Tomlinson on Enactment of HB 481, Georgia’s Choice Ban: “I Call on Women to Fight These Draconian Measures and Defeat the Politicians Behind Them”
COLUMBUS, GA- Today, in anticipation of Governor Kemp’s expected signing of H.R. 481 tomorrow, Teresa Tomlinson, candidate for U.S. Senate, issued the following statement:
“With Governor Kemp’s enactment of HR 481 one thing is abundantly clear: Republican leaders have determined they don’t trust women with our most personal decisions and we, therefore, should not trust them with leadership positions.
“They have declared pregnant women to be vessels of the state and decreed that the men who control the GA State legislature and the governor’s office have a compelling ‘state interest’ in our wombs. We now know without any doubt that all their talk of ‘small government’ and ‘personal freedom’ applies only to them, not us.
“No one knows her body or her family better than the woman. Women are the sole fiduciary of any life they carry.
“They have declared war on women’s rights on every possible front–through similar legislation in 15 other states; at the federal level where similar legislation has been introduced by Senator Graham with Senator Perdue as an original co-sponsor; and on the U.S. Supreme Court, which is currently being stacked with avowed anti-abortion activist justices.
“I call on women across the country to recognize this war for what it is and to join with us and aligned efforts everywhere to fight these draconian measures and defeat the politicians behind them.”
